You might want to think about running criminal and background checks on a lot of the people that you come into contact with. You might want to do these screenings on a new nanny, a neighbor, a potential rental tenant, a doctor, a potential date, contractor, or even a babysitter. As you can see, there are a lot of people in your life that you could do better by if you new more about them. You can protect yourself, your family, and your assets if you just spend a bit of time and money to look into them just a bit more.
